PCB Image:Shovelling method of four-layer PCB

Shovelled four-layer PCB refers to a PCB board whose components have all been removed with a clean surface. If we want to transform them into PCB file, we should do as the following steps:

1.Scan the top layer to save the image and name it top.jpg. At this time, DPI scanning should be set based on different intensity. Let’s say 400DPI.

2.Scan the base layer to save the image and name it bottom.jpg.

3.Grind the middle layer 1 out with raw emery paper to leak the cooper sheet and name it mid1.jpg after cleaning the scanning chart.

4.Grind the middle layer 2 out with raw emery paper to leak the cooper sheet and name it mid2.jpg after cleaning the scanning chart.

5.Adjust every picture into the horizontal way in PHOTOSHOP(spin the picture to ensure it is in a horizontal direction so that they will look good and pictures can be aligned). It is advisable that every base image is made into horizontal image to make sure pictures at the top and the base are in the same direction and location holes are also consistent. The final step is to save every picture in the form of BMP, such as, top.bmp, bottom.bmp, mid1.bmp, mid2.bmp. Please be noted that pictures don’t have to be cut neatly and should be much bigger. It will be done after the images are adjusted into the horizontal level.

6.Open the color shoveled board software of color PCB and click in the following steps from the menu, “file” -> "open BMP file", and then select “top.bmp” file and open it.

7.After setting DPI well, top-level images can be shoveled. Select the layer as the top level and then put the following elements into it: electronic components, holes, conductors, etc..

8.After put all the things in the top level well, temporary files can be saved (It is stated in the instruction book. Whether you want to choose it from menu or the buttons of the toolbar depends on yourself.) and name it top-1.dpb (It is suggested that names saved in different times should be named in different numbers, such as, top-1.dpb,top-2.dpb, in order to avoid that other files may be damaged if the last file is damaged when the computer breaks down. Naming them in different ways can at least save the former ones to reduce losses. Of course, it is only my personal suggestions and it is totally up to you.).

9.Close the present image window (Please be noted that one picture can only be opened at a time and never open more than pictures at a time).

10.Choose “file” from the menu and click “open BMP file” to select the bottom image “bottom.bmp”, and then click the temporary file top-1.dpb, you will find that the image in the top level and the bottom background image is not aligned. Press combination key Ctrl and A, and select all the picture elements which have been placed well. Press the cursor key such as left, right, up, down in the keyboard or the number key 2.4.6.8 for integral movement. Select several reference points and matching points from background image, and them aligned. Then choose the current layer as the base one and move to base layer wiring, pad soldering, filling, etc.. If the bottom layer is blocked by the top layer, what should we do? It is simple. You can choose “layer color setting” from “option” in the menu and remove the tick in the top layer, and the silk screen in the top layer can also be closed. After that, save the temporary files as bottom-1.pcb. At this time, the files are already aligned for two layers and composed into one.

11. It is the same for PCB shoveling process in the middle layers. You can repeat step 9 to 10, and export the PCB Prototype file. At this time, the four layers can be combined together, in which PCB image is exactly the same as the real one.
